NEW YORE, Ist October. On board the Berengaria, Mr. J. E. Mac Donald enjoyed a day comparatively free from pro-occupation in official affairs. Indications of the widespread interest iv his voyago throughout the United States and Canada have come to him from many sources. He is grateful to know that the tremendous interest he attaches to his visit ■is shared so widely.
It is understood that while he is in Canada some definite progress in the settlement of tho British unemployed problem will result.
The Prims Minister spent the day in reading and sitting for his portrait, and with his daughter in the evening watched the carnival dinner and' dance, but retired early. Later, Miss Ishbel joined the party and danced until after 11 o'clock.
Tho Prime Minister so far has taken all his meals iv the public dining-room, and has mingled with tbo passengers.
