(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Beautiful weather prevailed for the final gallops at Ellerslie this morning, and there was a good deal of interesting work. The course proper, with the flags 35ft out from the rails, was open for fast work, and the going was excellent. No. 3 grass track was also available, but there was very little work on this track. On the course proper the ; first to work wore Thursby and Kawainga, who were sent six furlongs. They covered the first two in 27 2-ssec, and the full distance in lmin 21 2-ssec, finishing together. ■".-■- ---■ After running two furlongs in 26see Brampton had the better of War Officer at the end of five furlongs, .covered in lmin 5 4-osec. From a-straggling start Eager Rose and King Emerald were in front of Gold Money and Respirator at the finish of. five furlongs, covered in lmin 4 3-ssec. Eager Rose,and King Emerr aid both did their work well. Oil King beat Trickle at the end of half a mile, run in 50 4-osec, a sood gailoj

It was a good performance oh the part of both horses, and Historic made a lot of friends for the Mitchelson Cup.
