HOUSE-BREAKING CHARGES
A labourer, Francis Clarlc, alias Gilford, aged 37, who was arrested by Detectives M'Lennau and Jarrold, appeared in the Magistrate's Court this morning charged with having broken and entered six houses in Wellington and stolen jewellery, watches, other articles, and money of a total value of £167 Is (id. There was also another charge against Clark of having broken and entered a house with intent to commit theft.
On the application of Chief Detective Lopdell, Clark was remanded until Wednesday next. "There will be quite a number of charges—a dozeu or more perhaps," said Mr. Lopdell.
