(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CHKISTCHUKCH, This Day. "There is just a chance that the slips have uncovered befls that may possibly contain gold reefs, but:the chance is small," said Professor B. Speight, Professor of Geology at Canterbury University College,'when asked whether he considered that the earthquake may have brought to the surface gold that has hitherto been undiscovered. The gold in the Murehison region, he said, vvas of two kinds. It occurred in reefs associated with the granite' which formed the hiain rock through which the Buller Biver had cut its way in the gorge. There were also alluvial deposits, derived from those accumulated in the rivers and terraces, and sometimes ~on the tops of -plateaux. - This kind was probably gold from re-sorted
