VICTORIA CLUB

Mr. F. AY. Vosselcr (.president) presided at the thirty-second annual meeting of the Victoria Club on Wednesday, lv moving the adoption of the annual report, he said that the finances of the club were in a highly satisfactory state, the credit for the year being £136, but members must not anticipate a reduction in the subscription, as probably the whole o£ that amount would be required for 'necessary work in the pavilion and grounds. He congratulated the club on having won the senior pennants, more especially as virtually every member of the club had been given the, opportunity of playing in the pennants. * The club had also come second in the junior pennants. * * A letter was received from Mr. D. C. Innes regretting his inability to be present and expressing some very fine sentiments as to his connection with the club and the friendships he had formed there. On the motion of the chairman, Mr. Innes wa3 unanimously elected a life member of the club. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. J. G. Duthie; secretary, Mr. G. A. Clark; treasurer, Mr. W. H. Chitty; committee, Messrs. A. I\ Baudinet, C. Campbell, A. G." Dixon, E. C. Griffin, C.> H. Pritehard, Roberts;,; auditor,' Mrv'J. C. Port; delegate to the centre, Mr. M. Marks. Mr. J. C., Port mentioned that there had beein no report on the proposal to acquire land in order to extend the green. He thought that a good deal of the complaints of members would be overcome if they could provide further accommodation for members. The chairman said that inquiries had been made, but they had found that the land was too costly. . They had decided to take no further action. They left the matter to the incoming committee. It was also mentioned that the days of play might be restricted to four times a week in order to rest the green, but no decision was arrived at. ' ■■ ■
