PENSION MATTERS
MEMBERS SEEK INFORMATION
Notice was given in the House of Representatives yesterday of a; number of questions which members propose to address to the Government concerning pension matters. The member for : Wellington. Suburbs (Mr. S. A. Wright) intends to ask the Minister, of Pensions whether it: is his intention to introduce legislation during the present session to enable women who have legally separated from their, husbands to. qualify under the Family Allowances Act. Mr. W. E. Parry. (Auckland Central) gave notice to ask the Minister; in Charge of Pensions whether the Government will introduce legislation this session to amend the Pensions Act with the object of increasing the old.age pension to £1 5s per week; whether the restriction with regard to old people proving their age- will be removed when it is apparent that they are eligible for the pension; and whether the pension for the blind will be increased. ' ;Mr. D. G. Sullivan (Avon) gave notice to ask the Minister of Pensions whether legislation will be introduced this session providing for pensions for invalids. ■ Mr. H. S. S. Kyle (Eicearton) proposes ,to ask the Minister whether he will introduce legislation : increasing the amount which a widow with two children may earn in addition to the pension^ which she receives from the State. Mr. Kyle stated that widows with two children at present received £78 per annum from the State by way" of pension, but they were not allowed to earn more than £78 per annum in addition. ' ■
