STRUCK THE VICE-REGAL CAR

AUCKLAND, Ist May. A collision with the Governor-General's motor-car in Queen street on the evening of 10th April resulted in the appearance of F. Beelian at the Magistrate's Court yesterday, on a charge of dangerous driving. According to Mr. G. JI. Hogan, chief traffic officer, His Excellency was on his ■yay to the Town Hall, and his cjxt had just turned across Queen street to draw up at the door, when Beehan, who was travelling down Queen street, collided with it. He (struck the Vice-Regal car by the rear wheels, but did little 'damage. Mr. Wallace, who appeared for lieulmn xvns of opinion tliat his client was unfortunate. Counsel considered Hint had it been any other car than the GovernorGeneral's nothing more would have been heard of the incidentMr. Hogan assured the Court that the charge would have been brought whoever the owner of the damaged car had been. Beehan was fined 10s and costs.
