FOG IN THE CHANNEL
British Official Wireless. (Received oOth March, S a.m.)
RUGBY, 28th March,
While other parts of Britain were enjoying brilliuut sunshine, tho fog in tho Channel yesterday was so dense that the Southampton mail and passenger ships wore brought to a complete standstill. Several incoming liners were fogbound off tho Isle of Wight and cross-Channel steamers had to drop anchor and wait for several hours. Easter traffic was in consequence considerably hampered. The fog having cleared during the night, the augmented service of Channel steamers was able to proceed according to schedule this morning. Fine holiday weather is predicted for Easter, and exceptionally heavy* bookings aro reported by the railways to seaside and country resorts. Bookings by air to-the Continent have constituted a record, and yesterday the fog did not'interfere with the carrying out of time-tables.
