FINE WEATHER

LIKELY TO CONTINUE

A gradual improvement lias taken. place in the weather, conditions this morning being fine over the greater part of the Dominion. An extensive anticyclone now covers the Now Zealand area and the Tasnian Sea, the centre having moved over the south of the South Island yesterday, and now being located in the vicinity of the Chatham Islands. Although 'barometers have been high generally, relatively low prossure in the north of Now Zealand has caused a pressure distribution favourable to fresh south-easterly winds from Cook Strait northward. These have caused scattered rain on the East Coast of the North Island, falls being mostly light, although Oisborno records 9!) points. Isolated showers have also fallen in the north of Westland, Groyrhouth having 63 points of rain and Westport 24. Elsewhere the weather has been mainly fair, with keen temperatures and decreasing winds. There is every indication of the present pleasant conditions continuing for a time. Moderate easterly to northerly winds may bo expected, the weather boing fair to fine generally, with rising temperatures. Although around Auckland there may be some scattered showers at first, conditions should improve. A few isolated showers may also bo expectod on the West Coast of the South Island.
