HUTT VALLEY POWER
The monthly report of tho engineer oC the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board (Mr. B. Bickcrstaff), which was presented at the meeting of the board yesterday, stated that during tho period 18th February to lGth March, 67 new consumers had been connected, making the total to date 7039. Other figures for the period, with those to date in parentheses, were: Connected load, iiyiS'k.w. (24,900 lew.), made up of light 315 k.w. (3(507 k.w.), heat 215 k.w. (1(5,719 k.w.), and power 00 k.w. (4574 k.w.); electric ranges installed, 23 (525); cow plants, 0 (49); water heaters, 23 (563). The greatest number of units purchased from Khandallah was 340,230 for the week ending 17 th March, this figure being 90 per cent, greater than the corresponding one last year. The maximum demand was 3344 k.v.a. at 12 noon on Monday, 4th March, the increase over last year's corresponding demand being 50 per cent.
