LODGE MEETINGS

A special meeting of Loyal Antipodean Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.0.0. F., wag held on Tuesday evening, Bro. G. H. Exton, N.G., presiding. Lodge delegates reported on the recent conference held at Masterton, and congratulated the following, who were elected to district offices: —Bios. It. lv. Couper, D.D.G.M., Bro. E. W. Guise, District Secretary, and Bro. A. T. Wainwright, who was elected a member o£ the Management Committee, the three brothers replying. Lodge honours were accorded to Bro. Pearee, N.G., of Loyal Centenary Lodge, Dunedin, and Bros. M'Grecvy, N.G., and M'llraith, V.G., of Loyal Britannia Lodge. A letter of recommendation was granted to Bro. A. B. Wilson. Bros. A. C. Blah 1, G. Head, and W. I; Clark, trustees, placed the recommendations before the lodge as to the allocation of the declared surplus of £18,518 during the term ended 1923, ns follows:—£1011) as the lodge* share in the war relief fund, £1350 liabilities to reserve fund according to general rules, £10,100 divided at approximately .£7 per share for years between 19a0 and 1925 (one share for each year oi membership), members to be given the option of having their share as a reduction in contributions or an increased fuueral benefit. It was also suggested that members who had been on the sick list for a stated time might also have increased sick pay. Tlie report was adopted. It was resolved that £50 be set aside to recognise the services of the trustees and the treasurer (Bro. C. J. Burnette). The fortuifhtly meeting of Loyal Sister Wallis Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.0.0. F., was held recently, Sister A. Muir, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. Two candidates were initiated. Lodge honours were accorded two visiting sisters from Hawkes Bay. The resignation of the permanent secretary was received, but a resolution was passed that it be held over until quarter night. ' A largely attended meeting of Loyal Newtown Lodge was held on Monday last, Bro. G. Bell presiding. The secretary (Bro. Wilson) reported on the recent conference, and also submitted the recommendations of the surplus committee, which were adopted by the lodge. About a hundred visitors were, present, representing city and suburban lodges, and these received a cordial welcome from members. Bro. Brown, P.G., of the Wellington Management Committee, replied on behalf of the visitors. The district officers were accorded a special welcome, after which the lodge adjourned for harmony. Musical items, cards, games, and dancing tilled in a very pleasant evening. During an interval the District Grand Master (Bro. R. Bell) and the DeputyGrand Master (Bro. R. K. Couper) addressed the gathering. Among the visitors were representatives from Palmerstou North, Hawkes Bay, and Otago. There was a good attendance at the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Mangatainoka Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.0.0. F., held on Monday evening. N.G. Bro. K. Yewen presided. Accounts amounting to £33 11s lOd were passed for payment. I.G. Bros. S. Hubbard intimated that he would be leaving the district shortly, and would have to relinquish several offices. P.G. Bro. H. A. Bick, was appointed to succeed him as a representative of the lodge on the Friendly Societies' Council, and P.G. Bro. L. W. Kitchen was appointed secretary of the social committee. A vote of thanks, carried by acclamation, was accorded Bro. Hubbard for his services, and also : for his donation to the lodge of an honours board. G.M. Bro. L. Angelini reported on a visit paid to Loyal Dannevirke Lodge on the occasion of the installation of district officers. P.G. Bro. Bick reported on the business transacted at the annual conference, held at Masterton recently. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded him for his report. Court Lady Glasgow, No. 8281, A.0.F., held its fortnightly meeting on Tuesday last, C.R. Sister G. Bryant presiding. There was a good muster of members present. At the conclusion of the meeting membei.. entertained their friends at the first of their popular social evenings. Mrs. Eobb supplied delightful music and Sister Anset acted as M.C. Sister Lawtou was elected social secretary for the season. '
