FINAL ATHLETIC MEETING

The local amateur athletic- and cycling season is to conclude to-morrow evening with a meeting at the. Basin Reserve. Inter-club competition for the Dewar Shield should account for contests of a stirring nature, as the competitors will be starting from the scratch mark. All those local athletes who have been to .the fore this season will be in action, as will the leading cyclists, with the appearance of T. Oakley and F. J. Grose as an added attraction. Oakley established a new record last Saturday, and with the other cyclists also at the top of their form it is to be expected that fast times will be recorded to-morrow night. One of the principal events will be a one-mile scratch race in which Grose, Oakley, Gane, and Pearco will take part. An event in the all-round cycle championship will also be decided. In all seetious of the sport the contests should provide a splendid finish, to the season's activities.
