DESIGNS FOR THE ART GALLERY
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—The vote o£ the Museum and^Art Gallery Committee to confine the competition to New Zealand architects instead of to the architects of the British ISmpire is regrettable. I am sure that Sir Joseph Ward and the Government will show more enlightenment and broadmindednesa than this. They know thatij ■we are to make certain of having a dt? sign worthy of the object and the Mw» the competition must not be limited. In any case, why should a small meeting decide the question by a vote of 25 to 9? The subscribers should )n>re Eome say, in the matter as well as the Government, and if there is any doubt in the mind of the Government about extending the scope of the competition I hope the Prime Minister will call for a vote of the subscribers ott the question.—l am, etc., ■ ' EC. 12th March. .
