ASSAULT ON A WARDER

■ AUCKLAND, This Day. : Charles Henry Whitehead {29) was released from gaol at 3.30 p.m. on. Thursday. He returned two hours later and assaulted a warder, Patrick Frederick Johnson, when the latter was Walking to catch a train.
Charged in .the Police Court to-day, the accused "said th.it there :. had; becfa animosity between Johnson aud him--self. They had a fight, but he denied that he was waiting for Johnson.
Mr. Lov'eu,' S.M.. said that the as- ■ sault was unprovoked and unjustifiable. He sentenced Whitehead to two months' hittd latKmr. ,
