Tho Bishop Auckland by-elcetion rendered necessary by tho death of tho Labour member, the Right Hon. Ben Spoor, resulted:—
Mrs. Hugh Dalton (Lab.) 14,797 A. Curry (L.) ■ 7,725 H. Thompson (C.) 3,357 Mrs. Dalton is the wife of Dr. Dalton, Lab. M.P. for Peckham. The figures for the last election were: Right Hon. B. C. Spoor (Lab.), 15,786; J. Bainbridge (L.), 12,866. 1 Tho Battersea South by-election, duo to Viscount Curzon 's elevation -to the Peerage, resulted: — Bennett (Labour) 11,789 Shelley (Conservative) 11,213 Albu (Liberal) 2,858 At the General Election the voting was: Viscount Curzon (C), 19,588: A J. Winfield (Lab.), 14,371.
