WEDDINGS

A wedding was solemnised recently at the Wade'stown Presbyterian Church, when Kathleen Mainland, eldest daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. A. Philip, Wadestown, was married to Robert Leslie, second son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Morgan (Timaru). The ceremony was performed by the Rev. G. Budd, Miss Mary. Fawthorpe providing the music. The bride entered the church (which was decorated with blue hydrangeas) with her father, a hymn being sung. The bride wore a charming gown of ivory marietto, with long sleeves edged with narrow frills and a panel of heavy silk lace down tho front caught with a diamond shaped brilliant buckle at the waistline; her veil of Brussels lace, worn cap fashion, was long enough to form a train, held in place by a coronet of orange blossom and buds. White roses and maidenhair fern formed tho wedding bouquet. The bridesmaids were Misses .Winifred A. Philip and Christina Morgan (Timaru). The former wore a frock of shell pink georgette with silver lace, and carried a bouquet of dainty lavender flowers to tone, and the latter wore a frock of delphinium blue georgette relieved with silver, and carried a bouquet of pale pink carnations. .'Littlo Una Philip ' and Mona ■ Todd (Marton), as flower girls, wore frocks of maize and lavender net respectively. The best man was Mr. A. H. Killoh, the groomsman being Mr. A. S. Todd ..(Marton). The wedding reception was held in the new Parish Hall. Mrs. Philip, who received the guests,' woro a charming frock of black mariette with black Egyptian lace at the bottom and an underdress of pink mariette with a black hat to tone, and carried a bouquut of dainty sweet peas and roses. Amongst the guests were Mr. and Mrs. A. Todd (Marton), Mrs. Philip and the Misses I. and E. Philip (Dunedin),. Mr. Money (Marton), Mr. C. O. A recent marriage solemnised at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, Wellington, was that of Sylvia Henderson, second daughter of Mrs. I. A. Wilkinson, of Berhampore, to Robert Thomas,- only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Hill,'of Mornington. The Rev. N. S. Barnett officiated. The bride, who was accampanied by her brother, Mr. J. ■M. Wilkinson, of Christchureh, wore a charming frock of ivory silk lace over satin.- Her. handembroidered Brussels veil, which formed a train, was held in place by. a wreath of orange blossom. She carried a prayer-book and a bouquet'of lilies and pink carnations. Misses Winifred Wilkinson and Thelina Hill were bridesmaids, their dainty, frocks of georgette being made ( alike in shades of salmon pink and delphinium blue respectively. Crinoline hats and-posies to tone with their frocks were also worn. Mr. Harold Thomas was best man, and Mr. Keith, Bjghani was groomsman. Following the ceremony a reception was held at tho New Masonic Hall, where the guests were received by Mrs. Wilkinson wearing a handsome gown of black mariette', hand embroidered in gold. Her black hat was relieved with touches of gold, and she carried,a posy of yellow roses and blue delphiniums. Mrs. : Hill (mother of the bridegroom) wore a frock of navy georgette and lace, her posy being in autumn shades. Mrs. R. Hill, sen. (grandmother of the! bridegroom) woro a black silk gown with hat to match. Later the bride and bridogroom loft for the -North, the" bride travelling in a frock of beige, patterned crepe de chine with hat to tone, and a navy silk repp coat. ■ .. ,'

Skipper, 8, Woodlands road, Timaru/ and John William, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Elder, of Teniuka, the Rev. H. T. Peat, officiating,. The bride, who was accompanied by her father, wore a'charming: longsleeved gown of ivory georgette, beaded, and with scalloped hem. Her veil was held in place-by a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of white sweet peas, white gladioli, and maidenhair fern. Miss Kitty Skipper was bridesmaid, and wore a dainty frock of shell pink crepe; de chene, with three' deep frills forming the skirt. She had a bandeau of silver leaves, and her bouquet was of pink and white gladioli and maiden- 1 hair fern. She also, wore a gold bangle, tho gift of the bridegroom. Mr. W. M'Callum was best man. After tho ceremony a reception was held in the Stafford Tea Rooms, where a large number of relatives and friends were entertained, the guests being received by the bride's 1 mother, ■ who wore a frock of aavy crepe de chine with guipure lace and a hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of red gladioli and maidenhair fern. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Elder afterwards left for' the North, the bride 1 travelling in a yieux rose crepe de chine frock trimmed witb cremo lace, a beige repp coat,, and crinoline hat to tone. She also wore a handsome fox fur, the gift of the bridegroom.
