Women's Christian Temperance Union.

The Wellington branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union held its opening meeting for the new year in :the rooms at Constable' streetj There- was'a-fair attendance ;of, members. . After the, opening devotions and the.repetition.of the pledge, the minutes of : the -November meeting were read and. confirmed. A letter was read'from tho Dominion corresponding secretary asking for which primary schools.' in Wellington the union had' donated charts for temperauee instruction. ,It was agreed that the five sots of charts should be" assigned to the following .schools: New'town, South Wellington, Berhampore, Island Bay, and Lyall Bay: ' j . The first of these will be a garden party, to be held at Mrs. E. P. Hay's residence, Bloomfield crescent, Lower Hutt, during March. Stalls were allotted to different members, and a good -attendance of ! well-wishers of tho V.M.C.A. movement is anticipated. .
