SYDNEY, This Day,

The whole city and suburbs served by electricity were plunged in darkness about 11.30 last night as the result of a breakdown at the power house. The telephone services were partially dislocated. After a delay of half an hour the city and somo suburbs were again supplied. In the outer suburbs, however, no light was available early iv the morning. A searching inquiry to trace the origin of the trouble is being made. Expert mechanics say that the occurrence is the result of a "general electrical disturbance." The humidity at nine o'clock last night was 91 degrees, the temperature being 73.
