In reply to a letter from the council Requesting that the swings and appliances at Maidstone Park be repaired, the Railway Department stated that there was no linbility on its part to carry out repairs. It offered the appliances in the park to the council for £10 14s. The offer was accepted subject to the approval of the lessor of the park. A letter, signed by twenty-five residents, was received.complaining of the .offensive smell of a piggery on the river bank. A Health Department inspector reported that he had inspected the piggery and had asked for certain improvements. He was of opinion, however, that the nuisance did not come from the pigstyes, but from the boiling-down plant on the premises. The council decided to take no action pending a further report from the inspector.
