Gordon Franks, who was charged a* James Kelly with tho murder of Frederick Walter at Boonjie, has been discharged, tho police stating that they; are convinced that the man before^ the Court is not Kelly. Franks said that he admitted he was the wanted man because the police pestered him.

A message from Thursday Island on 18th January states that James Kelly was romanded to Cairns on a charge of having wilfully murdered Charles Waiter at Boonjie, Malanda, about 28th June. Kelly's alleged «tatemeut was read in court. It is a complete acknowledgment of tho crime. He said that following an argument he struck Walter on the head with a piece of wood, and when Walter fell he again. struck him and then carried the body, into the scrub and hid it. He then cleared out to Thursday Island, where ho was arrested.
