A FINE WEEK-END
WEATHER NOW LESS SETTLED
During the week-end the Dominion's weather was dominated by an anticyclone which has gradually moved across tho northern districts. Fair to fine weather prevailed, but it was cool for the time of year owing to the southerly winds. These, however, yesterday gave place to northerlies, with a rise in temperatures. Pressure has continued high in -most parts of tfie Dominion, but a, fall in the South steepened the pressure gradient and caused the winds to freshen somewhat from Cook Strait southward. This morning more cloud was in evidence iv Westland and Otago, tho latter district reporting a few scattered showers.
The x^ospects are for moderate northerly winds, freshening north of New Plymouth and Napier, and for moderate to strong northerly to westerly winds elsewhere, these reaching gale force in exposed places and subsequently backing to south-westerlies. Cloudy'and less settled weather is probr able in westerly districts .south of Kawhia and in the south of the South Island, with some'■: rain. :. Elsewhere it should be fair to fine at ..first, but with increasing cloud, .and. showers later on. Warm temperatures::may be expected, but after about sixteen .hours a cooler chango may be anticipated in the South. \ :-':.:-': . '
