The Marris and Lowry (Kelburn) game against E. JwSnuth and F. Smith

(Kaituna) in the fourth round, had an exciting finish. On the 20th end, the score was 16-all. On the 21st end Smith had a toucher right on the jack. Lowry drove twice and missed, but with his next bowl he killed the head. In the replayed end, Marris, with his second bowl, got a touchor, which stayed on the jack, and his first played bowl also counted. Lowry, 2. Smith's lead drove without result. Lowry put in a block, which Smith removed with his fir/ bowl. Lowry blocked and Smith went through. Lowry played the best back bowl, and Smith hit Lowry's lying bowl and the jack ran to another of Lowry's.bowls which became the shot. Lowry put in another good back bowl. Smith's last bowl tipped the lying shot still closer to the jack. Lowry, 17; Smith, 16. Marris played well for the first ten ends, then went off, but camo to light again towards the end. Both of the Smiths played good bowls.
