Emil Fuchs, the internationally famous painter and, sculptor, committed suicide by shooting. He had been in ill-health for some time.

VANCOUVER, 13th January. The world-famous sculptor made sure of his aim. He held a tortoiseshell framed glass as he pulled the trigger. Hia sister, arriving for Sunday luncheon, found the body and rushed to a window and screamed, bringing pedestrians to the house. They found a note addressed to the sister stating that Fuchs felt that he was dying from cancer.
