WEEK-END WEATHER
HOPEFUL OUTLOOK
There is a decided improvement in: the weather this morning after' the unsettled, cloudy, humid conditions experienced during the past three days. Since last night barometers have risen, the rise having been only slight in northern New Zealand, but considerable in southern parts, owing to a southern depression haying moved away eastwards. Though still strong, at places, the wind has docreasod generally in force, and by this morning 1 the direction had changed ;to south-westerly hi a few places, more especially south -of Cooli Strait. During yesterday and last night scattered rain, fell south of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, mainly j in districts with a westerly aspect, while elsewhere, except for an isolated shower ..or two, the' weather has been fair to cloudy.' At 9 a.m. to-day rain was.reported only at Thames, Bluff, and Puysegur Point. Temperatures bavo romaiiied warm in. most districts. - Tho forecast is for moderate northwest to westerly winds, backing to southerlies later.. Some, scattered showers can be expected, but the weather is likely to bo mainly fair to fine, with warm temperatures, but somewhat cooler to-morrow. ' ' ■
