NEW ZEALAND DIVISION CAPTAIN J. S. G. FRASER, D.S.O. (From "The Post's" RepreS>ntative.) LONDON, 29th November. Captain J. S; G. Fraser, D.5.0., who has been appointed Chief Staff Officer to Commodore Swabey and Second Naval Member of the New Zealand Navy Board, is sailing for New Zealand by the Ruahine on 18th January. Captain Fraser joined the Navy in 1898, and became a lieutenant on 30th September, 1905, specialising in surveying, and later in navigation. At tho beginning of the war he was Lieuten-ant-Commander in tho old battleship Revenge. Early in tho war he had a, special mission for survey work along a portion of the Belgian coast. He was promoted to Commander ou 30th June, 191 G. ■ Most, of his war service was in connection with the Dover Patrol, aud he was awarded Jtn? D >S O. in June, 1917, .for his part iii bombardments on Zeebrugge and Ostend.

After tho war Captain Frasei- was appointed to war staff duties on the new battleship Revenge, on the staff of the Admiral commanding the First Battle Squadron. He did good work in connection with the occupation of Constantinople. From 21st June to.23rd July he was in the Operations Division at the Admiralty.

Ho was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31st December, 1923, when serving on the war staff of the Commander-in-chief at Portsmouth. As Captain he was a member of tho Finland Mission from June to September, 1924. In March, 1925, he was appointed to H.M.S. Lowestoft and took herJ out to South Africa, bringing H.M.S. Dublin back to England. In December, 1925, he was appointed to command the Gunnery Training Ship Champion, which was afterwards relieved by H.M.S. Canterbury at Portsmouth.
