DE. TILLYARD
ATTACK BY BOTTOMLEY (From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, 7th September. "John Blunt" is the title of Mr. Horatio Bottomley 's new weekly paper. The current issue contains a letter addressed thus: To Dr. E. J. Tillyard, IT.R.S., SVR.G.S., F.L.S., etc., New York. "Sir, —I understand you are an English man of science on your way to New Zealand. You are certainly a preposterous one. While in Boston, you attended spiritualistic seances—of course with a 'medium' in the show—during which 'Walter,' a man killed in a railway accident in 1912, returned to earth. According to you, he 'came through' with a whistle and a 'Hello, everybody,' greeted you as a friend, swore, left his finger-prints, and sang "God Save the King.' What is the sense or use, I wonder, of a man leaving mansions in the skies in order to fool about in this way? But it is interesting to learn that in Heaven swearing is not forbidden."—"John Blunt."
