SHORT-WEIGHT WOOL
♦ A POSSIBLE REASON Reference to short-weight, iv bales of wool on arrival at Bradford was made in a letter read by the Farmers' Union meeting from the New Zealand Wool Brokers' Association to-day. The letter stated that it was a fact that wool sold at the November sales in Wanganui and Auckland had shown a shortage in many cases of as much as 201b per bale, and more in some instances. Buyers were sending to brokers substantial claims for short-weight in wool arriving at destination. It was assumed that the shortage was due to evaporation of moisture, as the shearing for the early sales was done in very broken weather. The letter added that the shortage was causing buyers and brokers concern.
