MANAWATU
MABTON, This Day. Mr. H. J. M'Manaway, Independent Ecform, and J. H. Taylor, Labour candidates for the Manawatu seat, opened their campaigns last night. The former spoke at Bulls, and the latter at Greatford. Both had fairly large audiences. Mr. M'Manaway declared that lie would vote for the Government on a no-confidence motion. He denied any allegiance to the United Party. His Policy differed but little froni the main points of the Reform platform. He strongly advocated a "back to the land" movement. Mr. Taylor's address was much on the lines of the Labour policy of 1925, except for the discarded use-hold land policy. He attacked the Government on the lines of the Parliamentary debates. His speech contained nothing new, but showed a strong attempt by Labour to win the farmers' votes.
