WINDY WEATHER

SOUTHERLY CHANGE COMING A father deep depression which has been moving across tho Tasman Sea enveloped tho South Island this morning, tho barometer falling considerably iv the south and showing a general falling tendency elsewhere. Northerly to westerly winds have freshened, reaching gale force in places in and south of Cook Strait. Fair to fine weather has prevailed on the East Coast north of Akaroa, it being cloudy elsewhere with scattered rain in Westland and Otago and on the high country. Temperatures have been milder everywhere. The forecast is for moderate to strong north-westerly wiuds, reaching gale force in aud south of Cook Strait, but a change to southerlios is expected to set in after a few hours and gradually extend over the Dominion. In districts with a westerly aspect the weather is likely to be unsettled with scattered showers. Although elsewhere fair to flue at first, thq unsettled conditions arc likely to becdnio nioro general, temperatures becoming colder with the change to southcrlies.
