Kobe! raced well at the August Meeting, and Golden Bubbles won decisively at New Brighton last Saturday, as did Jolly Chimes. Vesuvius and Mate o' mine raced indifferently last week, but Orphan seems to be well handicapped. He went 4min 30sec when he finished third at Addington last month and is now on tain 34see. He should be hard to beat. Acre was all to pieces when he raced here last month, but if he has recovered lie will put up a good performance. Parkwood gave a glimpse of his best form at Addington, but the winner is likely to come from Orphan, Golden Bubbles, and Acre. Sunfish, who won so decisively at New Brighton, must be given a chance, despite his penalty for success.. Mercury may go well if he leaves the mark, but Keal Light is the best of the back markers. It should provide a good work-out for the Cup horses, although a trifle early for the big race. It should be the best contest of the meeting. Daphne de Oro will require to be at her best to have a chance, as there is a brilliant field behind her. Black Admiral is reliable, and for that reason deserves support. He seems to race well on the grass track at Wellington. Padlock's chance may be good, but he has not done much fast sprinting work, nor can Acron be given a chance on his latest showings. Jack Potts may race well, but Great Bingen, if in anything like his best form, would go close to success. Native Chief's vagaries are too serious a handicap to allow of him being supported with confidence. Possibly the best in the race to Support would be Black Admiral. Mangoutu .... 43 Louisiana 12 Maxegin 108 They are not a good lot of trotters in the President's Handicap, and all but Maxegin are in the mile and a half event earlier in the day. If Maxegin trots solidly he should win from 108 yds, as the others are too unreliable. Louisiana may trouble the Wellington-owned trotter if the Nelson mare is on her best behaviour. Fire Light is on the back mark, but the Southern horse is a good stayer, and may perform well over the distance.
