BIG CYCLE RACE

PROMOTORS DISAPPOINTED (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A criticism of some Christehurch firms in not giving practical support to the Timaru to Christehurch road race this year was voiced at a meeting of the North Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union last night. In a report upon the canvass of parts of the town, the president (Mr. W. J. Walter) said that some of the people had "turned them down." These included cycling firms, and the speaker urged that clubs should patronise those firms which supported the race. The prize money was not as good as it was last year.
