BODY AND SOUL

EFFECT OF CREMATION THE SPIRITUALIST VIEW Australian Press Association. LONDON, 11th September. Speakers at the Spiritualist Congress have taken the definite view that unless cremation is delayed for three days after death, the spirit which' has just been liberated may suffer. They claimed that many scientists reasoned from the material viewpoint, ignoring the soul and after life. Spiritualists maintained that the physical body, which was the only one officially known to science, had subtle bodies which interpenetrated the material body after the advent of death there. Decomposition and disintegration of the material elements by cremation should bo avoided for at least three days. Except in cases where the body is absolutely dead, cremation might cause suffering. The speakers added that it was a greater shock to the soul when death was accidental than when it was natural. The time necessary for physical dissolution varied according to the evolution of the individual.
