OBITUARY.

Tho death took place on Tuesday of one who was well-known In shipping circles. Captain Walter Francis Norbury, at his residence, Abbotts road, Mount Eden. JIo served his time with the New Zealand Shipping Company's clipper ships between London and the colonies. His first command was a little fore and aft schooner running between Auckland and Whangaroa. Later he Joined the Northern Steamship Company, and about 1880 was in command of the s.s. Glenclpr. For many years he was on tho West Coast trade between Onehunga and New Plymouth in the Mahinapua, Cairloch, Ngiipuhi, and Rarawa. He went to Dundee in 1900 to bring out the Nenpuln. Afterwards he took command of the Mamua on the Whangarci run. He was in rnminand ot that vessel when it was wrecked in the Bay of Plenty in June, 192 H. It was hortly after that Unit failing health caused Captain Norbury to retiro after a record of 38 years service with the Northern Company, of which line lie was commodore for ten ye.irs.
