Tha following forecast was Issued at 9 a.m. to-day for tho ensuing 24 hours:— Winds.—Strong west to south-west winds from Auckland northwards; variables, with moderate to strong southerles prevailing shortly in tlio central portions of the Dominion; strong north-westerlies in tho south and gradually becoming general during the next 24 hours mid reaching gale force In many places. Barometer.—Rising at first in the north; falling in tho south, and later generally. Seas.—Kough on the West Coast and in offshore waters on the East Coast. Tides.—Good generally Weather. —Pale In most of the eastern districts of the South Island; elsewhere unsettled with rain, but with a temporary Improvement shortly, except on the West Coast of the South
