WELLINGTON CLUB

The annual report of the Wellington Cricket Club gives .an interesting review of last season's doings. Although the senior team finished in eighth placo in the championship, there were many indications in tho season's play of better things to come. Tho absence of J. S. Hiddleston was keenly felt, but gratification' is expressed at the fact that this fine player will bo available during the coming season. Special reference is made in tho report to tho performances of B. Whyto, W. F. Airey, H. E. Burton, A. M. Cousins, C. O'Connor, C. B. Sharp, and E. C. Wiren The first-named was the outstanding success, his wicket-keeping being seldom short of nrst;class and his batting showing marked, improvement. ' Tho junior A team had a most successful season, and tho junior B team also did well. The junior C (1) team hardly had the success it deserved, being far too often called upon to build up other teams; and tho junior C (2) team, the Trinity Club's team playing under t!i« Wellington Club's banner, had a most successful season, finishing second in its grade. Tho members of the junior D team were always keen, and deserved a better measure of success. The club had a number of special matches, I and its members in representative matches wore W. F. Aircy and A. M. [ Cousins. Tho club's financial slatenit'iit shows a bank balance of :.C0!) 2s lOd, which is considered highly satisfactory.
