HOSPITAL NURSES
CRIME PUNISHED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GBEYMOUTH, This Day. Mr. Justice Adams presided at the Supreme Court. There was only oue criminal case. James Nash, aged 23, pleaded guilty to indecent assault on a little girl. An application for probation was refused, and he was sentenced to reformative treatment for a period not exceeding three years. Peter M( Donald appeared for sentence on a charge of breaking and entering and theft of mutton birds from a fishmonger's shop. He was admitted to probation for two years, conditional of his takiiKj out a prohibition order and paying the- costs of the prosecution.
A RELIEF MEASURE EXTRA PROVISION MADE Referring to the articles which have appeared in "The Post," and to his statement as to the hours of the nursing staff and the giving of one day Off duty each week, or ten days, Mr. C. M. Luke, chairman of the Wellington Hospital Board stated to-day that some of the rooms in the Hospital which have up to the present been occupied by the house surgeons (who have been givei/ accommodation in tho new building) are being altered and renovated. These rooms in the old main hospital building will now be available for members of the nursing staff. This will enable extra provision to be made for nurses in the Nurses' Homes. Additional nurses will bo appointed, and thus tho pressure owing to the increased number of patients in the hospital will be relieved, and the board will at the same time be able to arrange for more regular leayo being given to the nurses than has hitherto been granted.
