NO NEED TO HURRY
EMPIRE JUST STARTING LORD PEEL'S ADVICE (Received 12th September, 9 a.m.) VANCOUVER, 11th September. The Empire Parliamentarians arrived at Vancouver on Tuesday morning, embarking immediately for Victoria. Lord Peel, discussing immigration, declared that England did not want the Dominions to accept unemployables. Ho saw no great trek of Britishers to Canada, and no need for hurrying the growth of Canada. A hundred years from now the Empire would be at the outset of it career, and Canada would then bo its most important unit. He expected great good to come from the Empire marketing body, but saw no prospect of changes in British tariff preferences. The representatives of Australia expressed the view that tho extension of the trade treaty was likely if certain adjustments could bo made to bring tho balaneo of trade nearer to an equality. The New Zealand representatives stated that tho friendships formed during tho tom\ would have- a practical result in more business between the two countries.
