♦ United Tress Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received 12th September, 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. A by-olection to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. Murray, a Labour member of the State Assembly, resulted in a victory for Mr. J. E. Smith, the Labour candidate, who defeated Mr. Skelton, a Protestant Labour candidate, by 284 votes.
