PRIVILEGE NOT AVAILED OF.
The unusual situation of a member halving his speaking time extended-an4 then failing to made use of tho privilege occurred in tho House of Representatives yesterday. Mr. J. R. Hamilton (Awarua) apologised that ho was unable to say all ha had intended to say, as his time,was up. He said he had hoped to deal with, what he regarded as unfair action on the part of the Minister of > Publio Works in regard to. a request made by him in respect to a part of the speaker's electorate. Tho Minister had given something, but had taken away something else. ' Tho Minister of Public Works (tho Hon. K. S. Williams) promptly moved that the speaker's time bo extended; and the extension was granted. , - Mr. Hamilton expressed thanks, but added that he did not like to take advantage of an extension moved by a member whom he was about to'attack. He said he would therefore defer his complaint until a later occasion.
