A QUESTION OF COLOUR.
A suggestion that the Labour Party had an "understanding" with Mr. H. Atmoro (Nelson) was inado by the Minister of Education (the Hon. E. A. Wright) in the House of Representatives last night. "It looks as if there is an understanding between the Labour Party and the member for Nelson," said the Minister, "and as if they are not going to run a candidate in his diatrict. It certainly looks that way. At one time the member for Nplson would not say a good word for the Opposition. There was no one in the House who denounced them so strongly." , Mr.' H. T. Armstrong (Christehurch East): "He improves with age." (Laughter.) . The Minister: "Ol^ I'm afraid there's more than age in it." " Mr. P. Eraser (Wellington Central): "Yes, there's intelligence in it." - Tho Minister: "It certainly looks as i; tho member for Nelson is.: gradually going over, bit by bit, to the Labour Opposition. Perhaps when the Labour Party becomes quite white instead of pink or red ho will go right over." The Postmaster-General (the Hon. W, Nosworthy): "He's gone pale . pink." (Laughter.) ', - .;■•■.
