PARAMOUNT THEATRE.

! "Thirteen,; Washington Square" is to be screened at the Paramount Theatre to-night. In the beginning one is led to, believe that it is going to be a society drama, but it soon turns into a comic melodrama in a society atmosphere. It has some features of •"One Exciting Night" and "Alias the Deacon." There are times when the spectator is kept in teuse suspense. This occurs in the hero's house, where the maid, who loves to use long words, but who always manages to use them wrong, is frightened by the. thought that either burglars or ghosts are in the house. The comedy comes chiefly from the efforts of tho characters either to - avoid.. these" or to detect the burglars.1 There are many complications in the plot; but they are such they that heighten the interest, even though -they are not always logical. Jean Herscliolt is a flue actor, and may be -always, depended upon to do lino work. Miss Alice Joyce takes the part ot a dignified and rather snobbish1 society woman. Georgo Lewis is the young hero. Helen Foster is a charming nmicee to the hero. Zasu Pitts, as the maid, contribtues comedy. ' Supporting items include the latest Tupicar News and a bright comedy. The Orchestra Paramount, under the direction of liobt. Caulton, will play appropriate incidental music. Tho overture number will be "Russian Danee1' (Friml).
