NEW TICKETS

THE HUTT SERVICES EITHER WAY, BUS OR RAIL It was announced some time ago that the Bailway Department was considering the introduction of a new type or' ticket for use on the buses that would servo to eliminate the causes of dissatisfaction that have been expressed since the Department took over the buses from the private owners on the Wellington-llutt route. One complaint in particular was that passengers desiring to travel only in one direction by bus could not get the benefit of the return rate (the single faro being Is and tho return fare Is Gd). Commencing on Monday, the .Railway Department will bring into use a -twelve-trip ticket costing Us (or ninepence per trip), which will be, available for either motor bus or train in either direction. These will be the only tickets that will be good for either train or bus, and as they are transfer able in. the-same way as the railway trip bearer tickets are, they should prove very popular. The- now tickets will, be particular ly advantageous at peak loading hours, for passengers holding them may travel by either method, as time or circumstances suit them. , Tho tickets will be available for first-class travel on the trains. Another change that is being brought about, from' 9th July, is that aIJ bus parcels will require to be pre-paid. The charge is only b'd for 281b, and Is for weight up to 561b. Eeeeipts wi,lj be given by drivers for all parcels handed to them.
