HUTT BOWLING AND TENNIS CLUB
' The twenty-fifth annual report of the Hutt Bowling and Tennis Club was presented at the annual meeting of the club
held last .night. The report stated that the question of enlarging the club pavilion was carefully gone into, but owing to other more urgent improvements being necessary, nothing was done. The bal-ance-sheet showed that the club had commenced the year with a credit bajance of £106 16s sd, and finished with a credit balance of £10i 0s sd. The chief items of expenditure were £209 11s 9d for improvements, and. £90 14s for a new motor. mower." In the bowling section the club's representatives, Messrs. J. Kenniugton, H. Brooks, A. Macaskill, and M. J. Hodgins (s), and Messrs. H. G-. Teagle, J. Davidson, J. Eddie, W. Hendry (s) were successful in retaining the Duthie Cup, while Messrs.' C. F. Page, J. Mulholland, K. H. Baillie, and T. H. Norris (s), won the M'Arthur Shield for the club' at the Easter tournament. During the year club members played against the visiting Victorian and South Australian teams, the .latter being entertained at the club's own green. | The report for the tennis section showed that the year had been very successful. During the year the croquet section were honoured by the visit of the English champions—Sir Francis Wemyss, Colonel Dv Pre, Miss D. D. Steel, and Miss Retallick. In.the Wellington Association tournament, which was held on the club's greens, Mesdames_ Johnson and Ayson won the association club pairs, Mrs. i Johnson was runner-up in the open
championship' tournament, and Mrs, Jenness won a handicap event. The number of playing members is given as follow: —Bowling 80, tennis C 3, croquet '20.
