FRAUD AND THEFT
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CHEISTOHUBCH, This Day. , Angus MacNeil, aged 30, of Scotland, appeared before Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., yesterday on five charges, involving fraud and theft. The total amount involved.in money and goods was £23 15s. MacNeil pleaded guilty to all tho charges. . . Tho accused was a sailor, said Chief Detective Carroll. He deserted at Lyttelton, and stole a bicyclo and set out into the country. Ho obtained credit from hotolkeepers and storekeepers' by producing letters which purported to show that ho held money in the bank. Ho eventually turned %p at Rakaia, where he was arrested for drunken-., ness. On ono charge" of obtaining credit by fraud MacNcill was sentenced to four .months' hard labour, and on the othor charges he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within two years..
