WANGANUFS CHANGE OF FRONT Three years ago a poll, was taken in Wanganui on the rating system, and this resulted in a decision in favour of rating on the unimproved value by. 547 votes. ' The system did not prove acceptable to a large number of the 'citizens, and as a result of representations it was decided to take another poll. Mr. H. Atmore, M.P. for Nelson, was invited to take part in the campaign, and he addressed four meetings on the virtues of rating on the annual value. The poll was.taken yesterday, and this morning Mr. Atmore received telegraphic advice to the effect that tho system of" rating on the annual, value had been adopted by nearly 500' votes., Mr. Atmore has received numerous telegrams of congratulation on the success which attended his efforts, and requests have already been made that he should speak in Auckland, where it is understood, a proposal that rating on the unimproved value will. shortly b& considered. >
