WELLINGTON CLUB
The Wellington Club held their sealed handicap for the Palmer Cup from Mr. Clarke's residence at Tauhinau road, Miramar.- There was a good number of supporters present, including several of the vice-presidents. Thirtyone members wero started on their journey by Mrs. W. Weston. I. Shepherd early went to the front, followed closely by S. Morris' and A. Burns. • This position was maintained for the first two miles, when Shepherd clapped on the pace and drew away from the others to nnlsh some 70 yards In front of Burns, with Morris the same distance away third. After the race Hr.v Palmec announced the result of the sealed handicap, the winner of the cup being B. Canton. (3min 55scc), 12mlu lOscc with ,T. Loder (Smin 40sec) 12miu 21sec second, and B. Hodgo (3mhi 55sec), I2mlu 'ISscc, third. The fastest times were: J. Shepherd, 14niin 17soc, first; A. Burns, 14min 17% sec, second; S. Morris, 14min 29sec, third, and ,L. Watson, 14min 32sec, fourth.
