WEATHER. IMPROVING There has been a very marked and welcome improvement in the • weather conditions since yesterday afternoon: tye winds have decreased in force generally, and at .9 a.m. to-day nowhere were they reported as strong. A few places are still experiencing scattered showers, these being mainly localities exposed to the west. The only heavy rain reported this morning is in the far south. With, low temperatures and clear skies the conditions 'last night were favourable for frosts, many occurring in both islands. Tho forecast issued this morning holds out hopes of the weather being fair to-morrow \yith milder temperatures. Fresh to moderate winds from between the south-west and the west are likely to be experienced. In eastern districts the weathef should be mainly fair, whereas in western districts and in the far south some scattered showers may be still in evide'nee. In most places milder temperatures are likely to be experienced. .
