HATAITAI CLUB

A satisfactory year is disclosed by the annual report of the Hataitai Bowling Cliib. The club's membership now comprises 100 full, 16 non-playing, and 4 life members, and applicants awaiting vacancies. The finances of the club are on a sound footing, income exceeding expenditure by £73 ss. The club again won the Wellington Centre Tournament, and provided the runners-up in the Dominion Championship Pairs at Christchureh. A fair percentage of ' members entered local and other tournaments, and from a playing point of view the season was most successful. "The system of playing the Senior JPennants was again changed by the Centre," cays the report, "being played under what is known in certain other centres of the Dominion as the 'proportional system.' The clubs entering were grouped according, to their membership, and playing strength into seven groups of -22 rinks aeeh. We obtained 05.35 per cent, of rink wins and filled fifth place in the competition." The, club was represented by two rinks at the Dominion Tournament held in Christchurch, and a good showing was made by Messrs. * Kershaw, Woolley, Brightiug, and Yielding (s), in both the championship rinks and pairs. Messrs. Kershaw and Fielding were the runnersup in the pairs. The club was represented by two rinks centre tournament which, per medium of Messrs. Bennett, Cometti, Fielding, and Brighting (s) we were successful in winning for the. fourth year in succession. During the season the centre decided to, present a special gold medal to all win-' ners of five centre certificates, and we congratulate Mr. Cometti on being the only ■ player in the centre, who has up to the present qualified for this medal. The club was successful in holding the Stansell Shield in the two-rink competition with the Seatoun and Lyall Bay clubs on our green. Unfortunately the success of the Eastern Suburbs Tournament was somewhat marred by rain. We were able to complete the tournament on the Saturday after Easter, and we have pleasure in congratulating the Masterton Club in winning, the' tournament for the second year in succession. "The mid-week competition provided interesting play throughout the season for those of our members who were able to participate. We congratulate the Victoria Club on their success in winning this competition." The winners of the club competitions were: Nomination rinks, Messrs. StrangeMure, Penny, Kershaw, and Dr. Shore; club rinks, Messrs. Witcombe, Carswell, Snow, and Cometti; club pairs, Messrs. Carswell and Cometti; club singles, Dr. Shore; Mackenzie Cup, Mr. J. B. Hutton;' comet badges (holders), Messrs. Southwick and Halliday. Congratulations are extended to Messrs.
