HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES
» FRUITGROWERS WANT RELIEF. A remit was moved by Hawkes Bay delegates at the Fruit Growers' Conference to-day, providing that the exemption from heavy traffic fees to bona fide farmers be increased from two tons to two tons and a half for the carriage of farm produce, where pneumatic tires were used. In support of the remit, Mr. K. Paynter stated that heavy traffic fees were a hardship, as the payer was on the road for only three or four months and paid the same as the man who used the road every day. The remit was carried.
