MELROSE FOOTBALL CLUB
♦ A [unction was held this week in tho Melrose Football Club's gymnasium to mark the re-birth oE the organisation. Mr. Colin Campbell, president, explained that when so many of tho players were away during tho Great War, the mortgagee foreclosed on the old gymnasium for payments due. One of the old members, however, had generously 'come forward with monetary assistance, and tho club now desired to discharge its obligation to him. Mr. J. Grant then made the presentation, and in doing so he congratulated the club on paying off an old liability in a manner satisfactory to all parties. Me gave some good advice to members, urging them to stick together and so pave the way. to again reach the top of the Rugby ladder. Mr. J. Laughton then presented tho secretary, Mr. Geo. O'Loughlin, with a framed photograph of the opening function of the gymnasium. The club also presented similar photographs to the Mayor, Councillors M'Keen, Burn, Gaudin, and Burns, Messrs. M'Kenzie (Director of Reserves), Len Brewer, and G. Fache (chairman of the function).
